Request for Financial Aid Review

At The College of Wooster we understand that a college education is a significant financial commitment for families. Wooster wants to make certain that the aid we offer is as fair and generous as possible.

Wooster offers two types of financial assistance: merit-based and need-based. Our competitive merit-based awards are based on academic rigor and achievement, co-curricular engagement, as well as contributions to one’s community. Need-based aid eligibility is determined by the results of the FAFSA and other sources which outline the applicant and their family's financial information.

If you are interested in attending Wooster and have concerns about affordability, we are happy to review your eligibility for financial aid.  Please note the following information for this process:
    • Review of Need-Based Aid. Families sometimes face special financial realities which they were unable to mention on the FAFSA or need-based aid application: unusually high medical expenses, for example, or elder care. Also, a family’s circumstances can change from the information provided on the FAFSA; for example: loss of employment, significantly lower income, effects of the pandemic, or a medical emergency. Contact the Office of Financial Aid to determine next steps: 330.263.2317; financialaid@wooster.edu
    • Review of Merit-Based Scholarships. Any change in a merit scholarship is typically due to new information such as an updated transcript and honors/awards. Please include this information with this request. As the awarding of merit scholarships is very competitive, so too is the review process. Although not required, we recommend attaching copies of financial aid awards from your other college choices in addition to the written request included in the text box below.
Please allow two weeks minimally for processing and review upon receipt of your request.
